lol, Ensign, I can see how some might consider your posts bordering on near hostility, :P.

Either way, I agree that customization is a good idea and that De-Customization is a bad one, I just wish that it didn't affect ME... especially when I'm strapped for cash at the beginning. However, I can appreciate the +20% Damage increase and the fact that it only costs 1 gold to do (more incentive to do it, clearly, just to, as you said, take good items off the market). But like I said... it's a pain at the beginning, when we're all so poor and starving, lol.

As for the "bitterness" comment... I was just noticing how blunt your posts can be, lol. Personally, I'd hate to find myself in your inventory...

Most of the items I've found at lower level haven't exactly had incredible amounts of resale value - even if you get a good rare, by the time you find a replacement that rare will be old enough that you just want to salvage it for parts anyway. So I've never really seen it as a concern at low level - just customize whatever the best you find is and don't worry too much about it.

Peace,
-CxE

by definition there will be weapons of equal or greater power/value available for the person who first hears of GW 6 months after it is out or next year

it will not be a so called *UBER ITEM* because that would give a preorder person a small (??) permanent edge over all others of equal skill which GW has gone out of their way to balance out of the game

I think that the starting item will be a lot worse than the pre-order item and you will be glad you have your Ithas Bow or whatever you got up until you get a little further in the game. But your aren't going to be turning down riverside farmings saying "ha! Shocking Half Moon Bow of Defence with lightning damage 18-33 and defence +7? Pffft! I got this Ithas Bow... looooooser"

Has there been any talk of a bank or a repository to hold items. My husband will use his bow till he finds a better one, I got my copy from best buy before I even knew of the reward. But we both want to hold on to the items in the hopes that we might be able to decorate a guild hall or something with them.

The Items that are given, will probably be better than the ones you would probably start with in the game. The ones that are known about, from Best Buy, EB, etc. seem very good. The other stores that we don't know about may have the items for your particular build, or not. But this, being the opportunist that I am, is cool because it'll give me the option of playing a different character in GW.

And that, I find, is very interesting about this game.

Ensign, I hope that the item given you benefits you in ways you havn't realized yet. You seem to game play with a serious passion for having the best. Maybe we'll adventure in GW and truely find wonderous items better than given.

Shrapnel you are right on, and I'd adventure with a Pirate, anyday.
Here's to seeing what's around the next mountain range.
Peace.

The Best Buy item is a tactics-linked shield. Who uses tactics-linked shields? That would involve, like, pumping tactics. =(

I'm sure that people will be able to find items much better than the preorder items they were given - that's just reasonable. So I'd look at these as novelty items, something to play with at low levels if you're of the right class, but ultimately a toy that becomes obsolete.

Peace,
-CxE
